Our real hope is that the model we have created can spread. We incorporated as a non profit in part because we have a vision that TEAN could be much bigger than just one
organization in one community. We believe that a model where a group of people comes together to identify and organize the needs of a community and share it broadly could easily be replicated around the country.
You can contact us directly if you’re interested in starting an emergency action network in your town. Fill out the form below and one of our team will be in touch to talk about what it takes to create this model. We believe that it can be done very simply through social media. We do not think you need to form a non profit to start or run an emergency action network in your community.
The first three steps are: (1) find a small group of other leaders who will help you organize in your community. Our model has relied on cooperation with our school district. (2) Reach out to school nurses, principals and central office administrators to find our if they are willing to collaborate with your group. In order to preserve the privacy of children and families receiving donations, the school department is in a good position to collect goods and services on their behalf and ensure that they get to their intended recipients. (3) Start talking to parents and friends in your community to see if they would be willing to join the group and support children and families in need.
